    TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SENDS HAITI CITIZENS BACK HOME

    The Donald Trump Administration says the wait for Haitians to return home has been long enough. According to the Administration the conditions in Haiti have improved enough for Haitians to return home by July of 2019.
    “Since 2010 earthquake the number of displaced people in Haitia has decreased by 97 percent” In a press release Homeland Security said ” Haiti is able to safely receive traditional levels of returned citizens”.
    The extension to allow Haitians to stay in the U.S was a request to Trump by advocates and members of Congress from both parties. The President of Haitia Jovenel Moise’s also asked for the request.
    According to other views, Haitia is not yet ready to have citizens return. Amanda Baran, policy consultant at the Immigrant Legal Resource Center says the decision to send Haitians back home right now would be “heartless”.
    Haitians who have had children in the U.S are without a plan yet as to rather their departure is protected. Trump has not relinquished a plan yet.
    In 2017 Haitia is still considered one of the poorest in the world. The average person in Haitia lives on $1.23 a day.
