    Aaliyah Newell, Neighbor Knew Something Was Wrong Her Car Was Clue

    We used to argue over the parking spot, her neighbor said

    Aaliyah Newell was last seen on March 20, 2022 at 11 p.m at night. According to her neighbor their shared a liking of a certain parking spot.

    Her car was found parked a block behind her home, which was alarming.

    The neighbor wasn’t the only one alarmed about not seeing Newell in her favorite parking spot. Friends and family called for wellness check on Wednesday when they did not hear from her.

    During the last hang out Aaliyah Newell had with friends, she told them she had a date later. Friends and family were used to connecting with her and seemingly checking on her. They were alarmed as Newell had suffered from a stroke prior to.

    Nevertheless, the 47-year-old reportedly stayed active. She was an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

    Newell also worked in human resources, taught online classes.

    After police were called to the home on the 7200 block of south Vincennes, they arrived and found her nonresponsive.  Her body was beaten, and her ankles were bound by a cord, according Chicago police.

    An autopsy found Newell died of multiple injuries from an assault and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

    Friends and family remember how fun she was to be around. Her best friend of 43 years spoke out.

    “She was the life of the party. She loved to dance.”

    Investigation continues as police check surveillance cameras. Currently, Suspects have not yet been named. However, her death has been ruled a homicide.

    Various items were also removed from her house where she lived alone.

    Service will be held on Friday April 1, 2022 at Holy Temple Cathedral in Harvey Illinois.
