Ahmaud Arbery day is trending on 2 22 22 as the trial against his killers have been found guilty on hate crime charges. The rare crime charge in the southern states has not happened in over 20 years and is rare in southern states. 2 22 22 could not have been a more perfect day for Arbery’s justification as it is a palindrome day which is rare and will not take place again for another 11 years on 3 3 33.
The findings in the case were evident as many racial hate words on social platforms were shared among the three killers. In 2018, Travis McMichael commented on a Facebook video of a Black man playing a prank on a white person: “I’d kill that f—-ing n—-r.”
Some witnesses testified they heard the McMichaels’ racist statements firsthand. A woman who served under Travis McMichael in the U.S. Coast Guard a decade ago said he called her “n——r lover,” after learning she’d dated a Black man. Another woman testified Greg McMichael had ranted angrily in 2015 when she remarked on the death of civil rights activist Julian Bond, saying, “All those Blacks are nothing but trouble.”
Georgia has declared an honorary day for Ahmaud Arbery thanks to a resolution passed by the state House.
State Rep. Sandra Scott introduced the resolution designating Feb. 23 “annually in the State of Georgia as The Ahmaud Arbery Day.”
Arbery’s mom is set to make a special announcement on Ahmaud Arbery day. After the trial concluded she stated that it had been a “very long, stressful fight” for justice, but noted that no amount of justice will ever be able to bring her son back.
“Healing? I, as a mom, will never heal,” she said.
According to a release from The Ahmaud Arbery Foundation, Cooper-Jones will next head to Atlanta Wednesday for a private event at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
Arbery’s mom also spoke out about the plea deal that was taken at first that the family had to fight against for the hate crim =e charges to be brought against her sons killers.
