President Nana Akufo-Addo has cut sod for the commencement of construction of the ‘Ghana Award House.’
The ‘Ghana Award House’, according to President Akufo-Addo, is a new administrative building for the Head of State Award Scheme.
The sod-cutting ceremony was held in Accra on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Mr Akufo-Addo indicated that “since its inception in 1967, the Award Scheme has challenged and touched the lives of many young Ghanaians.”
“Not only has the Scheme challenged them to find their true purpose, passion and place, but it has also enhanced the employability skills and competencies, giving them the opportunity to serve the nation in various voluntary capacities,” he noted.
“Ghana will be the second country in Africa, after the Presidents’ Award of Kenya, and one of the few countries globally, to have its own administrative office,” according to him.
