An amber alert was issued for two children on March 14, 2018.
Jordyn Washington, 2, a girl, and Lynn Roby, 3, a boy, were last seen in a silver 2004 or 2005 Chevrolet Malibu or Impala and are believed to be in danger, according to the alert.
Police are in search of the father, Lynn Washington, 40. He is black with brown hair and brown eyes. His height is about 5 ft 9 in, weighing about 180 pounds.
“He is considered armed and dangerous based on his criminal history and our investigation,” said Markham Police Chief Mack Sanders.
The mother of the children Lakisha Washington, who is in her late 20s, was killed in a domestic-related shooting at a BP gas station at 167th Street and Pulaski Road in Markham around 1:34 a.m. March 14, 2018, Sanders said.
She was coming from a club when she got into an argument with the childrens father at the gas station.
“She was in the car and it was a domestic incident involving him and her, and she wound up getting shot,” Sanders said.
The children were in the care of a family friend when Lynn Washington picked them up after the shooting, according to police. The family friend was not aware of the shooting, Sanders said.
Washington is prohibited from contact with the children by a protection order issued on Nov. 30.
Both children are black with brown hair, the alert said.
“We’re not saying he did (the shooting), we just want to know where the kids are,” Sanders said.
Illinois State Police issued the alert at the request of the Markham Police Department around 9:55 p.m. from the first block of East 156th Street in Harvey.
He has tattoos on his neck, left arm, right arm and chest.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
