Angela Yee‘s Net Worth as a radio personality is more than some of your favorite celebs.
The Breakfast Club host made several somewhat surprising announcements on her next moves. One included the end of The Breakfast Club. She shared the details on social media.
On Tuesday night after Yee sent out a cryptic tweet indicating a change to the show. “The breakfast club as you know it is officially over,” she wrote without further explanation.
A Few days later she shared news that she was getting her own show. She said during the show, “So yes, so this is really exciting, but this is something that I’ve been wanting to do for years now, since way before the pandemic,” Yee said. “I had actually sat down with our big boss Thea, and I was telling her, like, ‘Look, I really want to have my own show.’ You know, I have my podcast Lip Service, and I was thinkin’ I would be able to get something like a weekend situation, one day, ease into havin’ my own show again. … So it’s always been a goal of mine to have that.”
As it turns out, the radio personality will be going all in on her new, nationally syndicated daily show, Way Up With Angela Yee. “I wasn’t sure what was happening when she first told me, but I am going to be leaving The Breakfast Club,” Yee shared. “You guys obviously will continue on, and it’ll be a different iteration of The Breakfast Club. … So, it is really exciting. I mean, I really, honestly can’t believe it.”
But Angela Yee has had a long run with her career. So, her next moves are well deserved.
Angela Yee was born January 3, 1976, in Brooklyn, New York. Her father is Chinese, and her mother is Afro-Montserratian. She attended Poly Prep, she moved on to her collegiate career. She attended the Wesleyan University, from which she graduated in 1997 and got a major in English. Before and after she completed her studies, she pursued employment in various fields such as marketing and music.
The now 46-year-old landed jobs as a music writer for GZA, which earned her about 30,000 a year. She also interned with Wu-Tang. Expanding her career opportunities, the now Lip Service CEO worked in apparel. She scored additional work with Eminem as well as Paul Robertson.
Angela Yee joined Eminem’s radio station, “Shade 45” in 2005. For two years she hosted two talk shows, “Lip Service” and The Morning After”. Part of her resume also includes correspondent for “Sucker Free” on MTV2, and she is one of the subjects of VH1’s new reality series, “The Gossip Game”, about bloggers and radio personalities.
But it was when she migrated to Power 105.1 that a big shift in her net worth would come. There she joined Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy and hosting “The Breakfast Club”. By 2013 the show created a spinoff, “Weekends with the Breakfast Club”.
The popularity of the show grew it’s syndication more than 50 different markets. Especially in heavily urban cities like Detroit, Houston, Miami, and Seattle. As of 2022, Angela Yee’s net worth is estimated to be $4 million.
$3 million dollars reportedly obtained through her work with The Breakfast Club. Outside of The Breakfast Club, Yee started and runs a juice bar chain (along with partners DJ Envy and Styles P) called Juices for Life. In 2016, she opened the fourth branch of the chain in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn. She partnered with Simon and Schuster in 2017 and began a book club called Kickin It from the Stoop, with the goal of promoting reading and literature. She became the first ambassador to the New York Public Library in 2018.
