Ashanti Shares Heartwarming Tale Of DMX Praying To God In Africa Despite Being Drug Addict

American singer and songwriter, Ashanti, has shared an interesting story about another side of the late iconic American rapper, DMX, that the world probably didn’t know.

DMX was renowned the world over for his hip hop hit songs.

He was also known for his struggles with drug addiction, something that eventually took his life at 50, on Friday, April 9, 2021. He had been on life support at a hospital in White Plains, New York, from the night of Friday, April 2, 2021, when he reportedly suffered a heart attack caused by drug overdose, until his death.

But as revealed by Ashanti in a post sighted by African Entertainment on her official Instagram page, there was the highly spiritual and/or prayerful side to DMX.

In her heartwarming piece, Ashanti recounted her time with DMX in Africa.

She recounted how upon their arrival to an airport in Africa, DMX stopped her, her crew, his wife, and got everyone to form a “big circle” for he to pray for them.

“Me and X did a show together in Africa years ago…we chopped it up on the plane for a little while and I remember he asked if I wrote my own records as I sat writing in my notebook…I said yup…he smiled and said good…”, Ashanti wrote.

“When we landed we’re all walking off the plane and he grabs my hand and says let’s my team and his wife (at the time) and his team formed a big circle in the airport..we all held hands..and he delivered the most powerful, raw, beautiful prayer…straight from his heart…There were African dancers and drummers celebrating and welcoming us… and after the prayer we all started dancing together,” she added.
