Beyoncé becomes the first black female performer to headline Coachella and the second female ever headlining at the popular festival in its nearly 20-year history. Bjork was the only other woman to headline Coachella in 2002 and 2007.
The line-up also includes performances by Cardi B, Tyler, the Creator, Migos, French Montana and 6lack, SZA, Miguel, Portugal the Man, Haim, David Byrne, alt-J, Post Malone, and the War on Drugs.
Beyoncé is also rumored to reunite with Kelly and Michelle on stage. According to sources, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams will be hitting Coachella for a special Destiny’s Child reunion.
According to Page Six, Beyonce wanted to do something special for fans to make up for cancelling last year’s headlining gig at Coachella due to being pregnant with twins Rumi and Sir.
A source said: ‘Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child are reuniting. It was teased, rumored, squashed, so nothing much else was said . . . But it’s happening.’
Destiny’s Child last performance was in 2015. They sang Michelle’s single Say Yes at the Stellar Awards. Prior to that they joined forces at Beyonce’s Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in 2013. The group originally disbanned in 2006.
Beyoncé sharing this moment with Kelly and Michelle is special because it marks her return to live music after giving birth to Rumi and Sir last June. Two months later She will be begin her tour with husband Jay Z for On The Run II in June, with the European tour kicking off in Cardiff on 6 June.
