Producers of coronavirus vaccines, BioNTech and Pfizer, have announced that they have reached agreement with to a South African partner company to manufacture covid19 vaccines locally.
The deal is believed to be the first of its kind in Africa.
The companies are to ensure the first batch of vaccinations are produced by the Cape Town-based Biovac company.
The deal is to take off not expected before 2022.
Biovac is expected to distribute over 100 million vaccine doses a year to the 55 African countries.
