Blue Ivy Becomes Youngest Grammy Nominee Passing Deleon Richards

Gospel singer Deleon Richards now married as Deleon Sheffield, was the youngest Grammy nominee in history until now. She started touring at age 5, and by 8, she was nominated for her first Grammy.

Deleon Richards earned the title from Michael Jackson, who got his first nomination at age 12 for the song “ABC,” which he performed with his brothers in The Jackson 5.

With the evolution of music and social media we can only expect the youngest age of talented stars to have a grammy nominee to get younger and younger.

Blue Ivy is also 8 years old, nevertheless, she has earned a grammy nominee at a younger age compared to Deleon Richards by a few months. Richards was initially 8 1/2 years old at the time of her nominee.

Deleon Richards still holds the title as the youngest gospel artist nominee for her album Deleon.

Blue Ivy is breaking barriers with the music video for “Brown Skin Girl”. Needless to say, the power of both artists sharing positivity and strength through music to many is powerful and deserving of well earned nominations in many ways.

The powerful artist also won an NAACP Image Award for outstanding duo, group or collaboration for “Brown Skin Girl” on Feb. 21, and a Soul Train Award for video of the year for that video on Nov. 29. She shared both of those awards with her mom, Saint Jhn and WizKid.

The other nominees for best music video are Future featuring Drake‘s “Life Is Good,” Anderson .Paak‘s “Lockdown,” Harry Styles‘ “Adore You” and Woodkid‘s “Goliath.”
