Gunmen have reportedly abducted hundreds of girls from a secondary school in Zamfara state.
According to eyewitness report, over 300 girls were taken from the Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in the Talata Mafara Local Government area of the Northwestern state.
The attacks reportedly began around 1:00 am on Friday, February 26, with gun men rounding up the girls. The state’s Commissioner for Information, Suleiman Tunau Anka, confirmed the reports some hours ago. While speaking exclusively to Channels TV, Anka revealed that the attack occurred but did not reveal how many girls were abducted.
The shocking news comes barely a week after gunmen abducted 45 people from a school in Niger state.
Zamfara is one of the worst hit states despite the government’s attempt at mediation talks with the bandits perpetuating the attacks. Victims of Niger state’s attacks are yet to be released.
