#Roommates, shortly after he was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, President Joe Biden made the commitment that during his first 100 days in office, that 100 million people would officially be vaccinated…and he stuck to his word. According to a recent report from the CDC, more than 100 million Americans have now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
@CNN reports, as the numbers of those who are fully vaccinated increase daily, the U.S. has now reached a very important milestone in the ongoing efforts to restore a sense of normalcy following the COVID-19 pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently confirmed that America has crossed the 100 million mark of people who are completely vaccinated. The Biden administration made the announcement during a recent briefing at the White House.
The CDC formally released its data stating that 240,159,677 total vaccine doses have been administered. That translates to about 2.8 million more doses reportedly administered in the last 24 hours for a seven-day average of about 2.5 million doses per day. Additionally, around 43.6% of the population (about 145 million people) have received at least one dose of vaccine, and 30.5% of the population (over 101 million people) are now fully vaccinated.
As we previously reported, the vaccine advisers from the Centers for Disease Control voted to recommend officially resuming the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The vote breakdown was 10 CDC advisers in favor of the recommendation, four advisers opposed and one adviser choosing to abstain from voting.
The CDC advisers agreed during their recommendation vote that the benefits of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine outweigh the risks, despite the severe blood clots that have been previously linked to it. In response, an updated warning label from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration will be added to the vaccine stating that women under the age of 50 should be aware of the risk of rare blood clotting syndrome associated with the vaccine.
