    Chicago Curfew Changes Due to Millennium Park Shooting

    Chicago Curfew Moved up to After 16-year-old is Shot at Millennium Park

    Chicago curfew has been moved up an hour after 16-year-old Seandell was gunned down over the weekend. The teen traveled to the loop, where a crowd of teens attended. The gathering event posted on social media advertised as “The Trend” attracted the crowd of teens.

    Seandell Holliday was shot in the chest. According to reports 17-year-old Marion Richardson targeted Holliday.

    According to reports, Richardson stated he had an issue with another teen from another group. An argument then broke out between two females.

    According to reports, during a tussle Seandell Holliday jumped onto Richardson’s back and punched him. Richardson allegedly took out his gun then shot the 16-year-old.

    Chanell Holliday the mother of Seandell Holliday’s mother spoke out about the incident. According to ABC, she stated she informed her son not to attend the event.

    Seandell’s mother stated he had a goal list, and smarts.

    The 17-year-old faces charges with a $250,000 bond.

    Chicago Curfew Update

    In 2018 the Chicago curfew mandated children under the age of 17 must be at home or accompanied by a parent or Guardian 18 years or older after 10:00 pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and no later than 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday Nights.

    As of May 16th, Mayor Lori Lightfoot spoke out about the shooting. “We must also have zero tolerance for young people carrying firearms or settling petty disputes with acts of violence,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in a statement. “We all must condemn this behavior in the strongest terms possible.”

    This year, Chicago has recorded 779 shooting incidents and 194 homicides, compared to 898 shootings and 207 homicides during the same period in 2021, according to figures last updated by the Chicago Police Department on May 8.

    Chicago’s curfew for minor’s changes from 11 p.m. to 10 p.m. as far as unaccompanied minors downtown the curfew restricts 17 and under without parents after 6 p.m.

    The curfew changed takes effect immediately.
