DaBaby is “#BackToWork” after his Rolling Loud scandal in July.
The North Carolina rapper returned to the stage at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 22, for Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2021. However, DaBaby did not take his return lightly. In the middle of his performance, he issued another apology for his insensitive homosexuality comments, and for spreading misinformation about STDs.
In the released clip, he said, “When I say I never, ever, meant to offend anybody, or say anything to make anybody feel any type of way live on that stage a few weeks ago. And Hot 97 was also willing to stick their neck out on the line willing to go against all odds. Everything going on out here in the world and still allowed me to come right out here on this stage and utilize their platform to help the world move forward and become a better place, and not dismiss people based off of their mistakes made like we ain’t human.”
Festivals and concerts went on a DaBaby cancellation spree after the artist’s comments at last month’s Rolling Loud concert in Miami. He was dropped from over five festivals and was denounced by several celebrities like singer Elton John, “Levitate’s” Dua Lipa, Demi Levato and more. During his set, he said, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up.” Right after that the father of two added, “Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d— in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
While he’s already apologized before, fans and organizers of the festivals and concerts, seemed to believe the apology was less than genuine. But it looks like fans believe he’s been punished long enough and are ready to forgive and accept DaBaby’s apology.
One fan reacting to the clip wrote, “He finally sounds sincere. 👏 “ Someone else wrote, “He’s good, We all make mistakes, lets not be to specific,” and another said, “👏 very happy for him. People make mistakes… allow him to learn from it.”
