Dionne Warwick Sends Support to Britney Spears and Shades People Who Don’t Bathe

If legendary singer Dionne Warwick, aka the “Queen of Twitter,” does anything on social media, she’s going to crack a joke, and her recent post to Grammy Award-winning singer Britney Spears proved to be no different.

Over the last several weeks, Spears has been in headlines over her conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears. The 39-year-old was placed under the controversial supervision following a series of erratic behavior stemming from traumatic events during the singer’s career circa 2007. Since then, a group of beloved fans, known as the #FreeBritney campaign, have shown the star overwhelming support as she legally fights to regain control of her business and personal affairs.

The “Toxic” singer recently gained the backing of industry vet Warwick, who expressed joy regarding the latest update in Spears’ case. Last week it was reported that the singer’s father confirmed his plans to “eventually” step down from the conservator role he’s held regarding Spears’ life, including her finances, following mounting backlash.

In a post shared to her Twitter account on Thursday, Aug. 12, Warwick, 79, noted how “wonderful” it was that “so many have supported Britney!” The “I Say a Little Prayer” songstress added that “Wonderful things can happen when we stand together… but not too close because I have just learned that some of you do not bathe.”

The sharp left turn from championing Spears to people who didn’t bathe could be credited to another practice taking place among some of Hollywood’s A-listers — a displeasure for washing every single day.

The startling discovery was initially brought to social media’s attention last month when celebrity couple and actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis admitted to Dax Shepard during an episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast that they didn’t see a need to bathe themselves or their children every day. Elsewhere, actor Jake Gyllenhall revealed he too subscribed to minimal bathing and said he found the task “to be less necessary, at times.”

Fans chuckled over Warwick’s post, including one Twitter user who replied, “The jab at the end…I love it.”

Another person wrote, “*laughs and agrees in freshly bathed.*”

“Auntie @dionnewarwick did this so smoothly, gently, and unexpectedly that her shade is like a benediction. Almost as though she’s sayin’ a little prayer for yoooou… 😂🎶” wrote a third. “Take a bow, Queen. 👑”

Late last year, the singer confirmed that she, rather than her niece, actually runs her social media accounts and that her jokes and clap backs are sourced in-house.
