DMX has finally been released from prison.The rapper was released from West Virginia’s Gilmore Federal Correction Facility. DMX was imprisoned for tax evasion back in 2018. March 2018, Earl Simmons was sentenced to one year in prison for the crime. The rapper pleaded guilty to tax fraud in November of 2017. In addition to his tax fraud, on January of 2018, DMX was sent to jail. The rapper skipped out on court ordered drug treatment from using Oxycodone and cocaine. He stayed in prison while awaiting sentencing.
According, to Iheart News DMX was picked up from prison by family on Friday morning. Awaiting for him was his son and fiance. Reports say the family headed over to a breakfast spot right after his release. The family took a photo to capture the moment.
Although, DMX was supposed to be released on Sunday the facility usually allows prisoners to get out two days prior if their release date falls on a weekend. Certainly, he was excited. The rappers lawyer also spoke on on his behalf. Murray Richman, told Vulture on Thursday that X is “very happy,” and is “looking forward to being home. He’s never been hotter than now — people have been seeking him out all over.”
