    Earthquake In Philippines Calls For Evacuation After Damage

    On Wednesday a strong earthquake in Philippines caused many including elderly to evacuate after damaging buildings. The 7-magnitude earthquake centered around Abra province in a mountainous area, according to Renato Solidum – Manila, Philippines.

    Renato Solidum leads the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

    “The ground shook like I was on a swing and the lights suddenly went out. We rushed out of the office, and I heard screams and some of my companions were in tears,” said Michael Brillantes, a safety officer of the Abra town of Lagangilang, near the epicenter.

    Additionally, Brillantes told The Associated Press, “It was the most powerful quake I’ve felt, and I thought the ground would open up.”

    According to the Philippine Star, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo is now on his way to visit the areas severely affected by the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that hit Abra and parts of northern Luzon on Wednesday.

    The Bantay Bell Tower, Vigan City The old historic belfry of the church known as the Bantay Tower, which served as watchtower for pirates back in the Spanish colonial era. It gave the town its name – bantay (meaning to guard).
    Additionally, establishment in 1590, the church is one of the oldest in the Ilocos Region, picture before and video when the earthquake is happening.

    Another person shared; the Vigan Cathedral was damaged by the earthquake. But also mentioned, no power now and damages are being reported in the Ilocos region.
    Another account shared Bangued, Abra that used to be 3 floors. But the whole first floor went down crushing the owners vehicles and other personal belongings. No reported casualty.
    Many of the residents also shared prayers along their timelines. As well as warnings in the direction of the earthquake.
