    Ghana’s Vice President celebrates 58th birthday at leprosarium

    The Vice President of Ghana has put smiles on the faces of lepers at the Weija Leprosarium.

    Dr Mahamudu Bawumia took his 58th birthday celebration to the Weija Leprosarium on Thursday, October 7, 2021.

    The Vice President was born on October 7, 1963 (age 58 years), in Tamale, Ghana.

    He hails from Walewale in the North East Region of Ghana and assumed office as Vice President on January 7, 2017.

    Sharing his experience from the leprosarium on Facebook, he wrote: “it was a great honour and privilege to have marked my 58th birthday anniversary by having breakfast with my cured leper friends at the Weija leprosarium.”

    The Weija Leprosarium was set up in 1993 by then Irish Parish priest of Christ The King Catholic Church, Father Andrew Campbell.
