Irv Gotti and Ashanti’s relationship story is sounding pretty creepy to Ashanti fans. Irv first began to open up about he and Ashanti’s relationship during his interview on N.O.R.E’s ‘Drink Champs.’ He says, “I couldn’t get past you wanting to be with Nelly,” Irv said in the clip. “Listen, at the time, it happens… any man is hurt. The chick that you f*ckin’ are in love with is with this n***a.” He also went on to say that Ashanti’s hit record ‘Happy’ was created right after the two had sex.
But some people are feeling grossed out about Irv Gotti and Ashanti’s relationship story. Especially considering their age difference.
Continuing to speak on the Princess of R&B during his new The Murder Inc Story on BET he explains, “Ashanti’s coming to the studio every day and our friendship and bond is naturally growing. She used to wear these Juicy sweats and her a*s was looking fat. Her a*s was looking great,” he said with a laugh. “So one day, I was like, ‘I’ll take you home.’ She said, ‘Bet. Cool.’ Walk her to her front door of her crib. She turns to say goodbye and I just kissed her and grabbed her ass. It was like, ‘What took you so long?’”
But when Ashanti was asked about being with the producer during the Breakfast Club she cleary stated it never happened.
Additionally, during another interview she revealed the sexual harrassment she went through within her career. But she never mentioned who she referred to.
The R&B singer shared her story with Access Live on Tuesday (May 22), leaving the name of the perpetrator undisclosed, according to Global Grind. Ashanti reportedly said that the situation started from the hefty costs of two tracks that she wanted for herself, each costing $40,000. The producer had another idea in mind, however, offering free beats to her in exchange for a shower and date with him.
Furthermore, she said, “It was very weird.”
“We started out really cool, he’s very talented, and when it got down to the business of the two records that I wanted it kinda was like, ‘OK, well, take a shower with me and let’s go out on a date and let’s do this, and I’ll give you the music for free.’”
She assumed that he was joking at first, but was “really really taken aback” after realizing that he was serious. Not to worry, though, since her older brothers were only a phone call away.
“I’ve been raised very strong and I don’t play those games and I have also been blessed to have a lot of big brothers and a lot of young brothers,” she revealed, “and let’s just say the situation was definitely taken care of and he definitely changed his attitude.”
Irv Gotti and Ashanti’s relationship musically departed when she left Murder inc in 2009.
At the time Irv Gotti said it was heart breaking. During a 2021 interview with Angie Martinez, Ashanti outed Irv Gotti over her masters.
But the 52-year-old too it as a sign of disrespect.
He said, “I helped make those records, so I own them. Me and Rule was talking today, and I’m not going to say no numbers, but I never signed my artists to 360 deals. I never said, ‘Give me some of your show money’. He continued, I never did that. I feel I was always very good to my artists,” Irv says. “Rule makes a lot of money doing shows, Ashanti makes a lot of money doing shows. What’s left for the guy who is the record label, who helped make the records? How I make money out of this is the masters. How am I supposed to feel when you want to remove that aspect? You’re basically saying … my beautiful kids, you don’t want them to eat.”
Irv says that there “ain’t no f**king compromise” when it comes to giving Ashanti back her masters. “I made those records. She wrote them, but she wrote them with the help of me telling her what to write,” Gotti says.
Contrary to what Irv Gotti stated about helping Ashanti write her songs, the 41-year-old singer described her writting days differently during a 2021 interview.
“I would be the only female and there would be guys in there rolling dice and doing things that guys do and throwing money on the table and there was a lot of stuff in the air,” she recalled. “And I would be in the corner … just writing in my pad.”
Fans concluded that the whole Irv Gotti and Ashanti relationship was innapropriate.
Regardless of rather or not she participated. Many called it predatorial. Saying, she was 19 years old and he was 30 years old and married.
