Joseline Hernandez’s ‘Players Club’ Comment Over Draya Michele’s Dream Role Leaves a Sour Taste In Fans’ Mouths

Joseline Hernandez appeared to have stomped on Draya Michele‘s dream on Feb. 24 after sharing her opinion on who should portray Diane “Diamond” Armstrong, initially played by LisaRaye McCoy, in a reboot of the 1998 film “The Player’s Club.” The reality star responded to The Shade Room’s repost of Michele’s statement — of wanting to be considered for the role if a reboot were to occur — shared that same day.

Hernandez felt the Mint Swim creator wasn’t equipped to play the college student and single mom who takes a job at a strip club — which shared the same name as the film title — to pay for her tuition, for no other reason other than the fact that Michele wasn’t her. She wrote while also tagging Ice Cube, who starred, wrote, directed, and produced the film, “Except that she’s not #joselinescabaret everyone will agree that I’m the perfect girl to play that role @icecube.”

Many people disagreed with the Puerto Rican Princess’ remarks and expressed that she would be a better fit as the movie’s main antagonist, Ronnie, played by Chrystale Wilson, who convinced Diamond to leave her department store job to join the club.

“Joseline give me Ronnie vibes 😂🤷🏻‍♀️.”

    “Girl no more like Ronnie.”

“No Joseline you’re the perfect girl to play Ronnie.💯.”

“Joseline it’s giving very much Ronnie. Not Diamond.”

“Naw @joseline need to play Ronnie cause she too gangsta for Diamond.”

Michelle initially expressed her interest in the role on her Instagram story on Feb. 23, after uploading a photo of the cast, which included LisaRaye McCoy, Charlie Murphy, Ice Cube, Alex Thomas and Samuel Monroe Jr., with the caption “This could be me in a reboot but y’all playing.”

The “Basketball Wives” alum also added a side-by-side comparison pic of both herself and McCoy wearing similar pink lingerie.

After Michele received backlash for wanting to be a part of the film, she told her trolls that the hate she received from them would only motivate her. “Whew. My cousin said I could request to play myself in a movie and y’all would still say no. The hate be real but it’s def motivating. ❤️”

She added, “Also. These shady posts sometimes stop people from opportunities.. but hey. Do y’all.”
