A US judge has suspended singer, Britney Spears’ father as her conservator.
In 2008, Jamie Spears was appointed the conservator of his daughter.
But Ms. Spears had appealed for him to be removed from her conservatorship arrangement, accusing him of years of abuse.
The judge on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, finally ruled that Jamie be suspended from the role.
The conservator role has been handed to another man, US media reports monitored by African Entertainment revealed.
Mr Spears filed to end the conservatorship after being accused by his daughter of abuse.
The ruling comes after fans worldwide championed Britney Spears through the #FreeBritney campaign.
A court usually grants a conservatorship for persons who are unable to make their own decisions. Such persons include those with dementia or other mental illnesses.
African Entertainment understands that Spears conservatorship is split into two parts – one for her estate and financial affairs. The other is for her as a person.
Under the conservatorship agreement, she has not controlled her finances since 2008.
Mr Spears was previously in charge of both parts of the conservatorship. He stepped down as Britney’s personal conservator in 2019 for health reasons.
Jodi Montgomery, a care professional, has taken over the role on a temporary basis.
