Kel Mitchell is recovering from a medical-related incident, according to the actor, who posted a message overnight thanking those for their support during the “frightening time.”
“Grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes that surrounded me during a genuinely frightening time,” the actor shared in a statement posted to his Instagram in the hours between Wednesday and Thursday.
The actor did not elaborate on what prompted the health-related incident or when it took place, but did reveal he had been treated and was back home. “With the grace of God and the skill of a medical team, I’m now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family,” he wrote.
The Music news has reached out to reps for Mitchell.
He went on to thank friends, family and other supporters who had reached out to him since his treatment. “The scare was real, but so was the support,” his statement said. “Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can’t thank you each enough. Much love to each of you.”
The incident comes only a few weeks ahead of the Paramount+ release of a long-awaited sequel to his and co-star Kenan Thompson‘s ’90s film Good Burger. Thompson was among those on Thursday who responded to Mitchell’s post, sharing three prayer hands emojis in response to the news.
Fellow actors of the Good Burger 2 star also shared their support, with Yvette Nicole Brown writing, “Glad you’re on the mend, friend!” and Damon Wayans, Jr. replying, “Glad you’re feeling better my brother.”
