Reiss James received a red card at the brink of first half, with Liverpool converting a penalty to level with Chelsea before going into the break.
Kai Havertz had given Chelsea the lead at Anfield in the 22nd minute but Mohamed Salah leveled for the home-side in the 45+5 through a penalty kick.
At full-time, it was Liverpool 1 – 1 Chelsea.
It ends level at Anfield.
