Manchester United have confirmed reaching a deal with Juventus for their former player, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The club announced this in a statement sighted by African Entertainment on its official website.
Man United also made the announcement on its official Instagram page.
In the statement released on its website about 30 minutes ago, the club said “Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.”
“Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal,” the statement read.
“In his first spell for Manchester United, he scored 118 goals in 292 games,” the statement recounted.
“Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester,” it said.
“Welcome home, @Cristiano”, United said on Instagram as well.
“CR7 is back,” the Premier League also confirmed on Instagram.
Meanwhile, a report by Sky Sports monitored by African Entertainment revealed that Manchester United submitted a €25m (£21.3m) bid to Juventus on Friday and have offered Cristiano Ronaldo a two-year contract.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is reported to have indicated earlier in the day that a deal for the Portugal captain to return to Old Trafford was very close.
There were earlier reports that Ronaldo was joining reigning English Premier League Champions Manchester City.
