The former first lady, Michelle Obama’s Mother’s Day gift to her mom staples within the Obama Center in Chicago.
Mrs. Obama made the announcement two days before Mother’s Day.
“From an early age, my mom, Marian Robinson, fostered in me a deep sense of confidence in who I was and who I could be. She taught me how to think for myself, use my own voice, and understand my own worth. I simply wouldn’t be who I am today without her.”
“As we get ready for #MothersDay, I’m proud to announce that the “Opening the White House” exhibit in the Obama Presidential Center Museum will be named in her honor.”
‘When the museum opens, this will be a place that welcomes folks from across the country and around the world, and thousands of families just like mine who live right down the street. Love you, Mom – thank you for being a guiding light in my life.”
The Obama’s have been working on the Obama center for years.
In September 2021, ground broke on the Obama Presidential Center, which is designed by architects Todd Williams and Billie Tsien. It will be a place to reflect and grow, connect and create; to tap into your own sense of purpose and discover the change you want to make in the world. It will be a place to honor history while inspiring young people to write chapters of their own.

The Obama Center creates opportunity for the former first lady’s community. But the foundation also proudly leaves another legacy from the Obama’s.
