Nene Leakes Steals the Show as She Goes In a Toe-to-Toe Vocal Battle with Keke Wyatt

Nene Leakes‘ vocal range became the topic of conversation on Sunday, July 25, after a recording showcased the former reality star and Keke Wyatt vocalizing as the singer performed at The Linnethia Lounge. Wyatt initially sang at the lounge a week ago when the interaction between the two women occurred.

In the video shared by The Peach Daily Report, both Leakes and Wyatt are seen vocally battling the word “baby” throughout the entire clip. At one point, when Wyatt belts a high note, the 53-year-old takes a pause and exclaims, “wait a minute. Wait,” before singing her final note.

As the initial clip became viral, the comments section was flooded with split reactions. One set praised Leakes for keeping up with Wyatt, while others disclosed that they didn’t know the former “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star knew how to sing.

“COME ON NENE THE VOICE LEAKES.”

“NENE WASN’T ON BROADWAY FOR NOTHING 👏.”

    “Nene held hers🆗🆗🆗🆗🆗🆗.”

“I did not know Ms. Nene could sing 😮😍😍.”

    “Wait! Nene can sing?

Although Leakes has previously displayed that she can hold a note in past seasons of “RHOA,” she didn’t officially utilize this talent until 2014, when she made her debut on the Broadway stage. Leakes’ first play was “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” where she portrayed the wicked stepmother.

In 2015, following the conclusion of her stint on “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” Leakes went on to star as Matron “Mama” Morton in “Chicago.”

During an interview with “E Online,” she revealed how her experience was like being a part of this play. “I’m really excited to do this. Last year at this time, I was in ‘Cinderella,’ it was my first run in Broadway. I fell in love with Broadway, I absolutely loved it. ‘Cinderella’ was a fairy tale, and when Chicago came calling, I was like yes. Let’s do this. I’m very excited to do it although the schedules are very tough.”

She added, “Tough schedules to be on Broadway. Broadway is no piece of cake. And every actor who knows Broadway knows…those schedules are crazy and when you get up there and those curtains open, you have to be on. So whatever it takes, you gotta be that character. So I’m excited to do it. I love acting. It’s my first love. I’ll be singing this time!”
