New Orleans has broken barriers today electing LaToya Cantrell as their first African American female Mayor. Cantrell shares her political expertise as a former New Orleans city council member of the Democratic party.


The new Mayor says ” Almost 300 years, my friend, and New Orleans, we’re still making history”.


LaToya Cantrell has served her city well during her political years creating an outreach for LGBTQ community and increasing affordable housing services to the city. 2017 has marked a historical role of electing minority rule politicians. Trends earlier this week when Seattle elected the first lesbian Mayor, Helena Mont. elected a Liberian refugee, and St. Paul Minnesota with their first African American mayor.
