Nigerian Rapper Davido and Nicki Minaj Connection Was Faith

We guess it’s not too often that a drink artist says, forget it I’m just going to DM Nicki Minaj and expect her to jump on the track for free. But apparently it happens.

Davido talks about his connection with Nick Minaj joining him on his third album.

The song “Holy Ground” is set to release October 30th. News broke out about the collaboration in May, but due to covid Davido left the states to return to Nigeria.

Davido told W Magazine, “Before this song, I had never spoken with Nicki. We were in a club in Abuja and I was really drunk and I had also just recorded this song. I was like ‘Nicki will kill this song.’

“So I took my phone and DMed her. I said, “Nicki, I got a song for us. It’s gon’ go number one, I promise you’ in those exact words. The next morning, [I saw a message from her which read], ‘send it.’ The next day, she sent it…

Blame it on the alcohol right … Because the next morning Davido said he didn’t even remember texting Nicki.

“I woke up the next morning and I forgot that I had messaged her the night before. I was like, ‘Oh shit, I was drunk.’”

Minaj urged him to send her the song, then delivered her verse back to him the next day.

“Nothing was really planned on this album,” he says, noting that “Nicki be charging people $500,000 for verses. And she did it for me for free.”

We’re betting he is happy about his drunk decision working out for his good.

We’re guessing his caring nature is paying him back for his good deeds.

Davido told W Magazine, “I represent a whole culture,” he says. “I represent a whole continent. You know what I’m saying? I can’t let them down.”
