Outbreak occurs during Robb Elementary school press conference. As Texas Governor Greg Abbott held a press conference on school shootings and mental health, Democratic Beto O’Rourke approached the conference table.
As O’Rourke approached the table he said, “This is predictable”.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) then stood up telling O’Rourke to sit down.
However, O’Rourke continued to speak saying, “You’re doing nothing”. Additionally, stating, “You said this was unpredictable, it’s not. It’s totally predictable.”
Uvalde Mayor Donald McLaughlin, also indulge opinion during the outbreak. He informed, the Democrat that, he was out of line. Referring to Beto saying, “You’re a sick son of a b-tch to do this to make a point.”
Others shouting in the press conference occurred during the outbreak as well. A man with his son standing next to him yelled saying, “First amendment freedom of speech. What happened to that”.
The man with the son began chanting, ” let him speak let him speak”. Also saying, “I’m ashamed to be an American right now”. A representative then replied to the man telling him, “then leave”.
The conference follows as the Uvalde Texas Elementary School became one of several school shootings this year. Also, one of the deadliest school shootings since Sandy Hook in December 2012, when a gunman killed 26 people, including 20 children.
The killer, Salvador Ramos killed 21 students and staff members at Robb Elementary School.
Additionally, he shot his grandmother prior to the school massacre. As well as notified the public of his plans on social media prior to each massacre.
O’Rourke also shared his views of the massacre on Twitter.
“These massacres aren’t natural disasters, acts of God, or random,” O’Rourke wrote. “They are totally predictable, direct consequences of the choices made by Greg Abbott and the majority of those in the legislature.”
Salvador Ramirez was shot and killed by border patrol as they attempted to capture him.
