Pierre Zakrzewski and Oleksandra Kuvshynova Fox News journalist killed in Ukraine, according to reports. Pierre Zakrzewski was a long-time war photojournalist for Fox news. He had been working in Ukraine since February. Oleksandra Kuvshynova is a Ukranian journalist who was working alongside Zakrzewski.
Zakrzewski’s death was announced by Fox News Media chief executive Suzanne Scott. Scott said in a memo to employees that he was killed when the vehicle the Fox News crew was traveling in came under fire.
Anton Gerashchenko announced the death of Oleksandra Kuvshynova, an advisor to the Ukrainian interior minister.
Zakrzewski was 55 years old.
Oleksandra Kuvshynova was only 24 years old. She was a seasoned photographer.
Fox news stated that, “Pierre was killed in Horenka, outside of Kyiv, Ukraine. Pierre was with Benjamin Hall yesterday … when their vehicle was struck by incoming fire.
A third correspondent, Benjamin Hall was also present. According to reports he was injured during the attack.
Unfortunately, there have been a max report of multiple journalists killed while covering the Ukrainian war.
Brent Renaud, an award-winning American documentarian, was killed Sunday in an attack that also injured journalist Juan Arredondo.
A Sky News team released footage earlier this month showing them being violently ambushed.
Colleagues remember them both.
Trey Yingst, a Fox News foreign correspondent, tweeted a picture with Zakrzewski and said: “I don’t know what to say. Pierre was as good as the come. Selfless. Brave. Passionate. I’m so sorry this happened to you.”
Fox news field producer, Yonat Friling, tweeted : “In yesterday’s attack near Kyiv, we have lost a beautiful brave woman – Oleksandra Kuvshinova – Sasha. She loved music and she was funny and kind. she was 24 years old. She worked with our team for the past month and did a brilliant job. May her memory be a blessing.”
