Three Ghanaian police officers have been accused of secretly burying a man after allegedly brutalising him to death.
According to the Bono Regional Police Command, the victim, a farmer aged 48 was allegedly brutalized to death in police cell.
The incident, the Command said, occurred at the Seikwa police station.
The three police officers accused of the heinous act have been identified as Chief Inspector Eric Aforo, station officer at Seikwa Police, and two other officers namely General Corporal Williams Akussumg and General Constable Ebenezer Akuffo.
According to the Regional Police Command, the officers in question have been interdicted as part of the investigation process.
“We have information that the man was brutalized by the police and buried secretly so upon the instructions of the Regional Police Command, those who are alleged to have taken part in this heinous crime have been sent to Sunyani,” the Bono Regional Crime Officer, Supt Kennedy Adusei, told the media.
He explained that the interdiction of the trio was a directive from the headquarters as part of the investigation processes.
“So far, investigations are ongoing. For now, as part of measures from our superiors at the National Headquarters, we have asked the officers to step aside and this we term as interdiction, so they cooperate fully with our investigations,” according to him.
African Entertainment understands that the victim named Abu Bukari Bahala had been detained for allegedly vandalizing a bank manager’s car windscreen.
His family told the press that during one of their visits to the station, they were told that the police had allegedly beaten up the suspect to death and secretly buried him.
They said they compelled the police to exhume the body and they have since done that. The body is said to have been wrapped in black polythene before the secret burial.
