Sandy Redd has a big name but a bigger heart. She appeared at the launch party of The Look Chicago on Sunday, and we must say her red was popping.
The Voice contestant gave a candid interview with Gyrlversion talking about her career and more. The Season 15 Voice contestant says she still feels like she’s dreaming when she thinks about the fact that she was selected on The Voice. 86 percent of America voted for the 35 year old mother of two. The artist opened up her blind audition singing “River” by Bishop Briggs. Briggs says “River” is all about tension and release. “It’s about staring someone in the face and not backing down.” Briggs is also known for covering the INXS song “Never Tear Us Apart” which is featured in the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack.
In regards to the 86% vote, Sandy Redd says Americas vote brought her validation. The singer has been doing music all of her life. She became a mother to her first son at the age of 17, and then after her second son was born. Sandy Redd, the sibling of eight children grew up singing back up for her mother, in which this trained her voice. Shortly after her mothers passing she realized life was short and decided to really focus on her craft.
The singer says it has been a long road, but it’s all in Gods timing. Sandy Redd gives credit to her team for being a strategic part of her entering The Voice. She goes on to say her 86 percent vote was damn good, and even with reading the comments she understands that she can’t be everyone’s “cup of tea” but she if perfectly alright with that, and thankful for the 86 percent that loved her.
Sandy Redd has been compared to the amazing Tina Turner, and is loving the compliment. The artist also spoke on her sons, and said that they are very supportive of her because she has always made sure that her sons were her priority. Sandy Redd not only has her own sons but she also focuses on the children of many others. She owns an organization called “Mama’s Birds Performing Arts Youth Organization”. The organization focuses on enhancing the talents in the youth. The Organization is a summer program held in Park Forest Illinois. The classes offer singing, dancing, acting, songwriting, studio sessions, Bio development and more.
Sandy Redd’s faith stays strong as she goes by the motto “There is no plan B” to her goals. Sandy Redd says staying focused to her plan A, and not altering her dreams with a plan B is part of what kept her on track of sticking with her dream. Focusing on her music makes her hungrier, and more passionate. She applauds those who do have a plan B to their goals, however because at the end of the day it is all sacrifice to survive.
Sandy Redd left Gyrlversion with a bit of advice saying “you have to have faith, and stick with it. Faith without works is dead”.
