South Africa is holding a number of events in celebration of its Anti-apartheid icon Desmond Tutu’s 90th birthday.
Mr Tutu is due to attend a service at St George’s cathedral in Cape Town.
An online lecture is expected to be held in his honour. The Dalai Lama and Graca Machel, the widow of the late president, Nelson Mandela, are due to take part in the online lecture.
Desmond Tutu is celebrated for his leading role in denouncing white minority rule in apartheid-era South Africa.
He was South Africa’s first black archbishop in the St. George’s Cathedral from the 1980s.
In 1984, Desmond Tutu Desmond Tutu won the Nobel peace prize for his campaign against apartheid.
