South Sudan and Sudan have reopened their border to each other after 11 years of closure.
The announcement about the reopening of the border was made after a meeting in Juba – the capital of South Sudan – between President Salva Kiir of South Sudan and Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.
Most parts of the 2,000 km border remained shut during the tenure of Sudan’s former President Omar Bashir.
African Entertainment gathered from local media reports that the closure of the border affected traders and residents on both sides.
