The Black womens Expo 2018 Chicago was lit and in full effect. The expo started 24 years ago in Chicago. The purpose of the expo was to connect African American brands with African American needs. In 2018 the expo landed it’s largest turn out in its 24 year term, showing that the African American community support is growing stronger over time.

Gyrlversion had the opportunity to join the fun. The line up of entertainment was everything hoped for. Celebrities like Kimberly Elise, Remy Ma, and Johnny Gill all joined the Chicago event.

Johnny Gill joined the show on the second day, and he brought the sexy into the building. During his performance he stepped off the stage and handed out roses to a few lucky ladies. Johnny Gill performed many of his hit songs like, “My, My, My”, and “It’s Your Body”. B y the end if his performance there were fans danding on stage with him. Johnny turned the party out!

The Black Womens Expo wouldn’t have served purpose without having some Chicago natives join the stage as well. Windy_indy, a chicago violinist tore down the house with her violin rendition of Kanye West “Fade”, featuring Teyana Taylor. This performance brought orchestra to hip hop, and most definitely showed how cool violins really are.

NDPNDNT, another Chicago native performed several hip hop jams bringing positive vibes and a mix of sound to the stage. NDPNDNT, performed catchy songs like “Rock With You”. The lyrics of this song had a new hip hop vibe with reminiscence of Michael Jackson’s original version of “Rock With You” and a reminder of the new Plies “She is My Rock”.

Last but not least Remy Ma showed on the final day bringing black girl magic with lyrics, style, and words of encouragement. Remy Ma didn’t come alone. Her “Rock” Papoose was by her side, showing the crowd how real and dedicated black love is.
