The U.S lottery keeps climbing. The lottery recently hit an all time high which had more than the normal gamblers standing in line to win.
On Friday it was reported that the lottery for the Mega Million was worth 1 billion. Unfortunately, no one won. Yahoo reports about 280 million tickets were sold for Friday’s drawing, with about 60 percent of all winning number combinations covered, said Seth Elkin, a spokesman for the Maryland Lottery. Monday sources say the total winnings are now worth 2.2 billion dollars.
The last huge winning was in 2016. The Powerball was worth $1.586 billion dollars.
What are your chances of winning? According to a Yahoo report
the odds of getting killed by a shark are higher than winning, with the International Shark Attack File putting the chance at 1 in 3.7 million in a lifetime.
What happens if you win the Mega Million? If you win the lottery you have two choices. The first choice is to opt for an immediate cash payment of $904 million. The second option is to receive the $1.6 billion prize over 29 years.
If you don’t win the Mega Million, the powerball is also at an all time high. The Powerball prize stands at $620 million, which is now the fifth largest jackpot in U.S. history.
