Some 65 persons are reported to have lost their lives in wildfires in Algeria.
Among the dead are 28 soldiers, local media reports monitored by African Entertainment revealed.
Reports say the wildfires are in Algeria’s mountainous Kabylie region.
According to reports, Algerian officials have blamed the wildfires on arson.
Reports say some 69 fires were burning in the region on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
National mourning
A three-day of national mourning has been declared.
Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, declared the national mourning for the victims.
