Zambia on Sunday, August 8, 2021 was hit by a major electricity outage.
The country’s electricity company, Zesco, made the announcement.
According to Zesco, there was a near nationwide power outage in the country.
Zesco attributed the outage to a “system failure”, saying it was working to ensure “all systems are restored as quickly as possible”.
Zambia’s national capital, Lusaka and the Copperbelt region, were without electricity for hours on Sunday, reports say.
