The opposition leader of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, is expected to be sworn into office today, August 24, 2021 as President.
He won outgoing President Edgar Lungu with about 2.8 million votes on August 12, 2021.
President Lungu polled 1.8 million votes in the presidential election.
Hichilema, a 59-year old businessman while contesting the presidency for the sixth time, promised democratic reforms, investor-friendly economic policies, better debt management as well as “zero tolerance” to corruption.
