Yara Shahidi is making some major money moves. The actress has lived much of her life in the film industry and knows more than many adults about production as NAS is her uncle. The talent runs in the family. Her mother, NAS’s sister Keri Shahidi is playing a major role in 7th Sun Production as she has steered Yara Shahidi into a promising career thus far.
According to the mother and daughter duo the company, 7th Sun Production “will develop and produce scripted and alternative television projects for cable, streaming, and broadcast.”
She told Variety, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with my home family, ABC Studios, in this exciting next chapter, alongside my family,” Yara said. “It’s exciting to add our production company to the roster of my peers and mentors who are also actively committed to sharing meaningful stories.”
Yara Shahidi posted the news to her social media platform saying, “7th Sun Productions ⚡️ The vision is set. The slate is built. Grateful to my ABC family & excited to join the television landscape to collaborate and push forward the stories of our many intersections #7thSun.”
Kenya Barris, the creator of black-ish and grown-ish spoke out about Yara ‘s future saying, “She is insanely talented, unreasonably smart and hardworking beyond compare,” said Barris. “I’ve called her ‘McMogul’ for years and seeing all that she has accomplished should come as no surprise to anyone that knows her. This deal is just the beginning for Yara, and I’m excited to see where she takes this next chapter and the storyteller she becomes.”
Keri Shahidi also made the announcement to social media saying, “Excited to share our next manifested dream✨ We are eager to tell more stories, continue expanding the media landscape alongside our peers and to keep the door open for other creatives⭐️ Grateful for our ABC family ⭐️.”
