Breonna Taylor Fight Continues With 76ers Tobias Harris And Protestors

The fight for Breonna Taylor will not end until justice is served. According to The Jasmine Brand  protests have been nearly constant in Louisville – but those wanting justice for Breonna Taylor have increased the stakes.

Organizers went on strike Monday (July 20th) with tens of thousands of workers walking off their jobs during the workday. Those unable to leave work knelt for Black lives for the eight minutes and 46 seconds it took for George Floyd to be killed by Minnesota police. In more drastic measures, four people in Louisville have gone on a hunger strike. They’re demanding that Sgt. John Mattingly and Detective Myles be fired and have their pensions revoked. The hunger strikers also streamed their efforts on Facebook.

One of the protestors Ari Maybe, recently said this: “In this form, we can control it. It’s not like a sit-in, where we can be arrested. It’s not like a protest, where there’s a beginning and an end. We control the beginning, the end and the entire narrative.” Full story on #theJasmineBRAND

Louisville is not alone. Many protestors around the world are demanding action for justice.

The Sixers forward Tobias Harris also made sure to use his platform to put forth action in fighting for Breonna Taylor.

In a press interview Tobias Harris was asked about the T-shirts with social justice messages that Russell Westbrook and the NBPA are producing and whether players plan to feature them at all during this season.

“Nothing against the T-shirts, but we want to make sure that [Kentucky Attorney General] Daniel Cameron will arrest the cops and officers involved with Breonna Taylor’s death. And that’s all I’ve got to say,” Harris said.

When another reporter tried to ask a question, he continued, “That’s going to be my answer for every question. Daniel Cameron, step up. Do what’s right. That’s the only message I’ve got today. I appreciate everybody. Thanks.”
