Breonna Taylors autopsy report has been finally made public by Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Friday September 25th, 2020.
The Jasmine Brand reported that the report shows bullets pierced Breonna’s chest, lung, arm and foot. However, just one of the six shots that struck Taylor was fatal. The autopsy report shows a bullet struck near Breonna Tayor’s heart, tearing through her main pulmonary artery connecting her heart and lungs, and the lower lobe of her left lung. The details were provided by Alex Payne, a retired Kentucky State Police deputy commissioner.
The one fatal bullet was shot by Police Detective Myles Cosgrove, in which Attorney General Daniel Cameron said his office’s investigation concluded that Detective Cosgrove was following protocols, alleging that Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend shot fire at them.
However, recent details are contesting that claim.
According to USA, A Kentucky State Police ballistics report does not support state Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s assertion that Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, shot a Louisville police officer the night she was killed.
The March 13th investigation on Breonna Taylor’s death ruledout “friendly fire” from ex-officer Brett Hankison as the source of the shot that went through Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly’s thigh, prompting him and Officer Myles Cosgrove to return fire, killing Taylor.
The KSP report says “due to limited markings of comparative value,” the 9-mm bullet that hit and exited Mattingly was neither “identified nor eliminated as having been fired” from Walker’s gun. Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend.
Although Hankinson had been previously ruled out, later details from Attorney Steve Romines, Walker’s attorney, reveal that Hankinson was also issued a 9 mm weapon. The evidence comes from a Louisville Metro Police Department record that has been obtained proving that Hankison had been issued a 9 mm weapon as well.
Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend had admitted he fired what he has described as a single warning shot from his Glock handgun at Taylor’s apartment because he thought intruders were breaking in. Nevertheless, Breonna Taylor was unarmed.
