    DA BRAT STARRING IN SET IT OFF STAGE PLAY

    DA BRAT announces she will be starring in the stage play “Set It Off”. The original movie hit theaters in 1996. The movie was casted with “A” list actresses, Vivica Fox, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, and Kimberly Elise.
    The movie was a critical box office success grossing in over 41 million dollars against a budget of 9 million dollars. Not only was the movie a hit, the soundtrack broke records as well. The soundtrack consisted of major artists such as En Vogue, Brandy, Tamia, Busta Rhymes, Goodie Mob, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, and Bone Thugs n Harmony. En Vogue’s song “Don’t Let Go” was ranked in the top 100 most successful songs of the 1990’s. The song was written by Ivan Matias, Andrea Martin, and Marqueze Etheridge.
    Another hit single from the “Set It Off” soundtrack was “Missing You”. The song reached number 25 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number two in New Zealand. The song featured artists Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Brandy, and Tamia. Brandy was the youngest artist on the major soundtrack. Tamia was a fresh artist at the time. The song marked Tamia’s highest charting single then, and became one of the biggest hit singles of the 90’s for Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan.
    Da Brat will take over Queen Latifah’s role as Cleo. Da brat expresses her gratitude of being able to play in one of her favorite movies. Da brat had auditioned for the original film but didn’t get the role. When the opportunity came for the stage play, she said she couldn’t let it get away from her again.
