    Highland Park Illinois 4Th Of July Armed Man Leaves 6 Dead

    During a Highland Park Illinois 4th of July Parade, a mass shooting occurred leaving 6 dead and dozens injured. Five died on scene, one away from the scene.

    According to reports, Lake County sheriff’s office deputy chief Christopher Covelli said at the press conference Monday that the suspect was an 18- to 20-year-old white male with long black hair who should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

    Several surrounding cities have cancelled their events.

    Evanston, Glencoe, Winnetka, Rolling Meadows and Glenview are among those cancelling events.

    Illinois Rep. Brad Schneider tweeted he and his team were gathered at the start of the parade route when the shooting began.

    “Hearing of loss of life and others injured,” Schneider tweeted. “My condolences to the family and loved ones; my prayers for the injured and for my community; and my commitment to do everything I can to make our children, our towns, our nation safer. Enough is enough!”

    A Highland Park resident, Miles Zaremski, told the Sun-Times there were 20 to 25 shots “in rapid succession. So, it couldn’t have been just a handgun or a shotgun.”

    The shooter escaped. Meanwhile officials request local cities to remain on watch. Additionally, requesting footage from residents near the parade. Surveillance homes near the corner of Second and Central warned to call FBI. Tip Line 1-800-CALL-FBI

    A shelter in place order took effect for surrounding areas covering Greenbay Rd, to Lorell Ave, to St. John Rd, to Elm Place.  Several of the injured victims are in critical condition. Onlookers also found a young boy separated from his loved one. Any missing family members may remain at the local police station.

    Evanston hospital received 5 injured victims in critical condition. Meanwhile, Highland Park hospital received over a dozen victims.

    The gunman reportedly shot from a rooftop. Videos of people scrambling from the scene caught on camera. A child captured the video. During the video the child screamed, yelt still capturing the terrifying moment.

    Another video escalated showing the result of the scene.
