Ghanaian songstress, Sister Deborah has lashed out at homophobic lawmakers for taking strict measures to marginalize gay people.

The controversial singer recently went on a Twitter rant, calling out Ghanaians for being religious hypocrites while attempting to school them on Africa’s connection with homosexuality.

In one tweet, Sister Deborah shared: Bloodclarts, legalising #LGBTQI does not mean they are coming to molest or rape you like your uncles did while mothers protected them. That’s a crime. It means they will be protected from homophobes like you, so you can’t harm them! Let them be! Period!”

In another, she added, “Your generation has to reexamine the Abrahamic faiths and the damage done to the African psyche and mindset. Our society, before the encounter with Islam and Christianity, was a FORWARD LOOKING and TOLERANT one.”

Sister Deborah’s tweets follow recent reports that government is set to shut down the recently launched LGBTQ center in Accra. The reports making the rounds have been met by numerous reactions.
