Long Island Police have now said that they are going to boycott Snoop Dogg performance due to his lyrics. They have been making major effort to encourage others to do the same thing.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Suffolk County’s Police Benevolent Association’s leadership said its members would be boycotting the big game, and decried Dogg’s spot in the show, saying that “encouraging people to shoot police officers apparently earns you a spot as a headliner at the [Super Bowl].”

“If you choose to watch the game at all, (we won’t be) halftime is a great moment to shut your TV off in honor of those men and women in blue who gave their lives for us,” the post continued above a Feb. 3 letter, which was penned by Williston Park attorney Anthony Capetola calling for the NFL to drop the rapper from the show, as well as Constellation Brands as a spokesman hawking their brands.

Capetola wrote William Newlands, president and chief executive officer of Constellation Brands, which owns products like Svedka Vodka and Robert Mondavi wine, calling it outrageous that he is still employed by them despite a recent anti-cop song that was released Jan. 22, one day after New York Police Department police officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora were shot.

Rivera died on Jan. 21 and Mora on Jan. 25.
