Over 700 African migrants apparently bound for Europe in search of greener pastures have reportedly been rescued off the coasts of Libya and Malta.
According to reports, the migrants were removed from the Mediterranean off the coasts of Libya and Malta this weekend by rescue ships.
Reports say 400 migrants were rescued from a vessel that was taking in water in the central Mediterranean.
Another 100 migrants were picked up off Malta, and at least four other boats were rescued, reports say.
The International Organization for Migration has earlier stated that over 900 people have died in 2021 alone while attempting to travel to Europe.
