American actor, Nicolas Kim Coppola, known professionally as Nicolas Cage, is once again a married man.
Cage, 57, and his Japanese partner, Riko Shibata, aged 26, are said to have tied the nuptial knot on February 16, 2021 at a “small and intimate wedding” which took place at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.
However, the couple reportedly kept their wedding “secret” until Cage admitted it in a statement to People Magazine.
In the statement published March 6, 2021, Cage was quoted as saying “It’s true, and we are very happy.”
Cage has been married four times in the past but on every occasion, each of those marriages had ended in a divorce.
African Entertainment understands that Cage and Shibata first met in Shiga, Japan, over a year ago.
In February 2020, they were photographed and multiple media reports back then identified Shibata as a “mystery woman” paying a visit to the pyramid-shaped mausoleum Cage constructed in New Orleans to eventually entomb his dead body.
Cage, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award winner, had announced their engagement in August 2020 while appearing on his brother Marc “The Cope” Coppola’s radio show, USA Today reported.
“She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada and I haven’t seen her for six months,” Cage, who resides in Las Vegas, USA, was quoted back then as saying, “We’re really happy together and we’re really excited to spend that time together so I finally just said, ‘Look, I wanna marry you,’ and we got engaged on FaceTime.”
Reports say the marriage proposal included a black diamond engagement ring that Cage sent via FedEx.
Cage was previously married to Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley, Alice Kim and Erica Koike.
His most recent marriage which was with Koike, lasted for only four days before he filed for an annulment. At the time, Cage claimed he was too drunk to understand what was happening when the wedding occurred.
Cage and Kim were married from 2004 to 2016. They remain friends after their divorce and Kim reportedly attended his wedding to Shibata.
Cage and Kim’s son, 15-year-old Kal-El ― named after Superman’s birth name ― also attended, according to report.
