Will Smith’s new movie Emancipation Proves the Fresh Prince is not cancelled from the culture after the famous Chris Rock slap. Smith apologized for the slap, saying, I was out of line, and I was wrong. Now moving on with life, Netflix has a number of major releases and series during August.
One of those films include Will Smith‘s “Men In Black”. But the money doesn’t stop there. Will Smith’s new movie Emancipation snagged a deal with Apple TV. The movie releases in 2023.
Apple offered the 53-year-old 35 million dollars.
Will Smith spoke about Emancipation during a 2021 interview with GQ. The superstar dad explained why he accepted the role after years of avoiding making films about slavery.
“This was one that was about love and the power of Black love,” he said. “And that was something that I could rock with. We were going to make a story about how Black love makes us invincible.”
Additionally, director Antoine Fuqua shared the hype around the movie during an interview with The Playlist. The Training Day director called Emancipation the best work of his career.
“Don’t have a release date for it yet, but, as a feature film goes, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” he said. “As a director, I mean, you hope to grow … I see some growth in my soul … it is epic.”
Will Smith still remains as one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. The “King Richard” actor remains in the top paid along with Tom Cruise, Dwayne Johnson, Denzel Washington, Daniel Kaluuya, and Vin Diesel. As well as Jason Momoa, Joaquin Phoenix, and Eddy Murphy.
Tom Cruise ranks as the highest at 100 million. Joaquin Phoenix ranks in at 20 million.
