Macy Gray and Bette Midler Reply To Transgender Backlash

Macy Gray and Bette Midler shared their thoughts on transgender comparisons to naturally born women. But the comments didn’t go so well with the transgender community.

During Piers Morgan’s show Macy Gray pointed out the obvious truth between trans and born women. She stated, “Just because you go change your parts, doesn’t make you a woman.”

As her post circulated social media many born women clearly agreed. No transgender female can carry a baby, nor do they get menstrual cycles, have to worry about the tampon shortage, or abortion right issues.

But even some media outlets now call the “I Try” singer a TERF. Refinery 29 wrote, “say Goodbye to Macy Gray. Gray’s statement is disappointing on a lot of levels, especially because it completely disregards the identity and humanity of all trans women, but also because Gray is a Black woman. Black trans women are being murdered at alarming rates around the world, and we’re coming off of the deadliest year for trans people on record. ”

However, Gray never stated hate for trans women. Not to mention, no legitimate argument within the article addressed the facts laying beneath the separation of natural born women and transgender women.

Bette Midler also called out the name change taken from naturally born women.

Twitter slammed her after writing, “WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being stripped of our rights over our bodies, our lives and even of our name!”
“They don’t call us ‘women’ anymore; they call us ‘birthing people’ or ‘menstruators, and even ‘people with vaginas’!,” her tweet reads. “Don’t let them erase you! Every human on earth owes you!”
Speaking as a woman, a naturally born woman changing gender names but still risking issues that no trans can experience seems degrading. Simply since, trans women don’t experience cramps. Nor do they fear ectopic pregnancies.
Furthermore, the title “birthing people” doesn’t apply to the full 18 years of raising a child. Neither to the body changes. As well as breastfeeding.
Not to mention, the title “people with vaginas’ ” unfitting. Since the natural born women’s vagina works for much more than sexual pleasure.
Neither of the two women shaded transgender women. They simply pointed out undeniable truths.
Furthermore, Black naturally born women understand the struggle of sexism and racism. But we still need our title, and acknowledgement. Especially since no trans woman could evolve into a trans woman without the example of a natural born woman. It just wouldn’t exist.
But yes, we respect the right and choice to change body parts. But you can’t change the natural things that only born women experience. Bottom line truth.
